Marge Casey + associates. Olaf Hauschulz.

Olaf Hauschulz, a German-born photographer, has been shooting automobile and landscape images for over fifteen years. His affinity for working with innovative lighting creates dreamlike images, which have often been described as almost a futuristic approach to photography. Olaf?s own description of his approach to shooting cars in particular is that ?each brand and car has its own distinctive character and it is important for me to work in a way that strengthens that unique character and design.?

Innovative and inspiring, Olaf?s success began after spending five years in Hannover, where he was accepted to the German Association of Photographers as one of the three youngest members ever admitted. Olaf then began to shoot for national magazines and advertising companies in Europe.

In 1997, he setup a studio in Hamburg, the center of photography in Germany, and immediately began working with two of the top ad agencies in Germany: JungvonMatt and Springer & Jacoby. By 2000, Olaf was shooting for European agencies from Great Britain, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Germany on location throughout Europe and South Africa.

In 2004, Olaf garnered worldwide notice for his first worldwide campaign for the Mercedes CLS. This innovative and visual campaign was used in Canada, all over Europe, South Africa, and New Zealand.

Olaf?s international acclaim helped inspire his US appeal. In 2004 he was awarded the New Infiniti M campaign. In 2005 Olaf shot every campaign for both Mitsubishi and Infiniti in the U.S. and, in the process helped those companies to build corporate brand visual identities.

Olaf?s international and culturally diverse experiences shooting with a wide variety of clients and agencies has sensitized him to the different worldwide ?souls? of brands. With each project he tries to work toward a unique look for each campaign that is uniquely driven by the product?s individual brand positioning.

His most recent work has been his continuing association and successful collaboration with Infiniti. He has accompanied the brand since 2004 on most of their international campaigns. His most current project for this brand in 2008 is for its European launch.

Also in 2008 his collaboration with Acura has grown to include his first worldwide ?not car? campaign for Microsoft with Crispin, Porter & Bogusky. In 2008 he will also direct his first car commercial.

After living in New York for twenty years, Greg Miller returned to his hometown of Nashville to reexamine the city where he grew up. With the help of a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, in 2008 Miller began a series of photographs using familiar spaces from his childhood as starting points. Attempting to reconstruct memories by photographing in and around areas of Nashville where he grew up, he often photographs complete strangers cast in scenes drawn from the lasting emotional remnants of his past.

DAVID LEVINTHAL: Mentioned and quoted in The New York Times 2/11 "From That Instant Thrill, Enduring Art, Now for Sale"

02.11.2010
"The New York photographer David Levinthal said he found that using a Polaroid llent itself to experimentation in a way that other cameras didn't. Over the years he has used a Polaroid for some of his most popular images. The Sotheby's sale will include selections from his ?Wild West series, a 1987-89 project in which he created his own imaginary universe using toy cowboys and Indians. There will also be photographs from American Beauties (1989-90), in which he shot buxom, bathing-suit-clad dolls from the 1940s and 1950s. All are 20-by-24-inch prints and their estimates range from $500 to $7,000. (click here to read article).
The tactile and tangible quality of Polaroid is unique, Mr. Levinthal said. There's still something magical about seeing that instant image.?
